Right Approach of Appreciation for Pandemic Employees

Recognition: A never-die craving of all.

In my mere 7 years of career and a full transition from manufacturing unit to the corporate one, I came across one uniform thing which affected the employees the most and that was “appreciation”. A gesture to value their dedication to work, credit for their efforts, and recognition for their hard work is an important tool for employee motivation.

Yes, it has been rightly identified somewhere, what actions can’t do, words can. Unsurprisingly, A word of appreciation evades major hindrance to productivity and provides employees a sense of accomplishment.

Keeping, this pandemic in mind, workplace morale has taken a back seat, and, so it has become very important to keep boosting our employees for higher productivity, maintenance of employee turnover, and more loyalty.

Hence, it is equally important to keep appreciating our employees, even if they are working remotely.

But, HOW?

Here are some tips and tricks you can apply for remote employee’s recognition :

- Sending handwritten notes

- Sending goodies/gift cards on their birthdays

- Be thoughtful and keep asking about their family members

- Walk the talk (if your local law allows). Go for a small walk and share positivity

- Make a virtual employee group and share cheerful stories of their success

- Find the silent heroes and provide public praise, on social media platforms highlighting their success points

- Provide them your company swag, maybe apparel, health drinks, nutritious ready to eat food, etc

- Encourage employees to recognize their peers and talk about them on appreciation day

- Find employee of the month and provide family assistance, child care assistance, health insurance perks,etc

- Mandate time off after a certain amount of work is done or time contributed for working (eg. 2 days paid vacation or family dinner passes or home delivery of certain services like spa, massage, etc)

- Organize a clap hour (eg. continuous clap for a recognized employee for 2 mins by the whole team virtually)

Try these points and let’s keep admiring our employees for increasing their morale towards their potential and the organization’s profitability.

Ultimately, “Our employees are the real assets and the ladder to organizational growth and victory.”
